Abstract

<PICT:0419545/III/1> Wash oils used in the recovery of benzole &c. from coal gas are regenerated by removing continuously from a point near the outlet of the separating still a predetermined proportion of the hot debenzolized creosote oil and redistilling the oil by the combined action of heating and steam. The hot oil is led by a pipe a into the first of two or more stills b provided with overlapping trays c and a steam pipe i, and the vapours evolved are passed through a condenser e. The residues are led to a second similar still.
