[Class 6 (i).] Sowing apparatus for carrying on the person, mounting on travelling wheels, or combining with an ordinary sowing machine, comprises two rigid hoppers or a supple bag delivering by two apertures or a central distributer to two shoots or inclined planes discharging on two rotary discs having vertical spindles. Two hoppers 1, Fig. 1, are connected by a bar 2 and supported in front of the user by crossed straps over the shoulder. Outlets leading by shoots to the rotary discs 8 are regulated by shutters 3 movable by means of a handle 4, a rod 5, and cranks 6, adjustable stops limiting their upward movements. The discs 8 are slightly conical with a central domed portion and with wings 811 tangential to the domed part. They are rotated by means of a handle 9, a flywheel 9<1>, and gearing 10 .. 13. The discs are partially covered by semi-cylindrical casings 14 which may be adjusted angularly by screws &c. to regulate the width of sowing. In the form shown in Fig. 7, a bag placed around the user's neck is connected to a cylinder 17 having two outlet orifices regulated by turning a corresponding obturator. The seeds fall down inclines 19 to the discs 8 which are rotated by means of a handle 9, a spindle 20, and wheels gearing with the screwed spindles 23 and mounted in casings 22 connected together by a handle. The discs are in the form of annular basins of semi-ovoid section. Similar sowing apparatus may be mounted on and driven from its own travelling wheels and may be connected behind a plough, harrow &c. It may also be mounted on a wheeled sowing machine so as to throw the seeds on to an inclined plane which directs them towards drill tubes or discs. The inclined plane may be provided with parallel or radiating gutters or partitions or with conical funnels. It may have a double slope or may be horizontal.
