[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 22, 1935.] [Class 6 (i)] A wheeled machine is provided with a seed box and transversely adjustable fertilizer receptacles and with mechanism driven from the wheels for simultaneously depositing seeds and fertilizer at predetermined intervals, the seeds being delivered from the seed box by means of an apertured plate rotating under a fixed conical plate provided with scrapers and ejectors. The machine comprises two U-shaped frames 9 mounted on two wheels 12 and provided with a seat 10 and a draught pole or bar 13. The two or more fertilizer receptacles 17 are adjustable laterally on a sub-frame comprising rods 16. In each receptacle 17 is a helical conveyer slidably mounted on a square shaft driven from a wheel 12 by chain-and-spur gearing, which may be variable. The conveyer feeds the fertilizer into a tube 24 through an outlet below a shalf in the receptacle. Within the seed box 32 is a fixed cone beneath which is a rotary plate provided with apertures to receive single seeds and carry them beneath bridges to outlets connected with the tubes 24 by flexible pipes 35 and tubes 36. Fixed on the bridges are springs bearing on pivoted brushes or scrapers and hammers or ejectors. The rotary plate is driven from a transverse shaft by bevel gearing and a vertical shaft 40 which may be raised when the driving gears are to be synchronized. On the transverse shaft is a star-shaped cam which acts on a tappet on a spring-controlled shaft provided with arms linked to arms 65 on valves in the tubes 24. By this means the seeds and fertilizer collected in the tubes 24 are dropped together periodically. The tubes 24 terminate between earth-spreading plates 67 behind furrow-forming tines or shares 68 and in front of furrow-filling plates 56, all carried by pivoted levers 69 held down by spring-controlled rods 73 passing through trunnion collars in brackets 76 adjustable along a shaft 80. This shaft may be rocked by means of a hand-lever 85, link 83, and crank arm 82. The valves in the tubes 24 may be perforated to allow of continuous discharge of fertilizer.
