Abstract
A filtering partition, applicable for use in filter-presses or centrifugal filters, comprises a finely-perforated sheet or wire-gauze sieve united to a coarsely-perforated relatively-stiff backing sheet by an intervening film of fused metal which extends over the inter-foraminal area of the backing sheet. The partition may be made by passing the assembled sheets between rollers through an electric oven at a temperature ranging from 400 to 500 DEG F. When the fine sieve is of wire gauze, the fusible metal is preferably provided in the form of a very thin sheet, for example of tin or solder, having perforations in register with those of the backing sheet. When the fine sieve is a perforated metal sheeting, the film of fusible metal is obtained by dipping the backing sheet in a bath of the fused metal.ALSO:A filtering partition, applicable for use in centrifugal filters, comprises a finely-perforated sheet or wire-gauze sieve united to a coarsely-perforated relatively-stiff backing sheet by an intervening film of fused metal which extends over the inter-foraminal area of the backing sheet.
