Abstract

.259,369. Riddell, A. C. Sept. 19, 1925. Filters having sheet filtering-materials; funnel filters.-Apparatus for filtering milk comprises a vessel divided into compartments 5, 6 by a vertical partition 2, the milk being delivered to the compartment 5 and passed upwards in the compartment 6 through a dished perforated plate 9 and cotton-wool 8 held between sheets 7<a>, 7<b> of wire gauze. The filtering element is held in place on its seating by a spring strip 14 pressing down a keeper 12, through apertures 12b in which the filtered liquid passes to a spout 17. The lid is in two hinged portions, one covering each compartment. The vessel may be provided with handles at the sides by means of which the filter may be supported within the mouth of a milk can. According to the Provisional Specification means for holding the filtering element in position may comprise a spider frame with a vertical rod engaging with a slot in a fixed bridge piece.
