Abstract
417,133. Signalling over power circuits. PIRELLI-GENERAL CABLE WORKS, Ltd., 343, Euston Road, London, and JORDAN, R. J., Chez Nous, Southampton Road, Chandlersford, Hampshire. March 28, 1933, No. 9355. [Class 40 (iv).] In an alternating - current power feeder system wherein a protection circuit is used also for telephony or other signal transmissions, the protective circuit is supplied with direct current by rectification from the power supply. Interference with the telephony &c. by the power supply is thus reduced. In the single phase supply system shown in Fig. 2, the protective pair b, b<1> is supplied with direct current through transformers c, c<1>, rectifiers d, d<1> and smoothing equipment e, e<1>, the circuit breaker tripping coils being shown at f, f<1>. The telephone or signalling apparatus is connected to the protection circuit over wires g, g<1>, filters k, k<1> (for multiplex signalling) and transformers h, h<1>, the windings across the protective circuit having interposed condensers o, o<1>. In the three-phase system shown in Fig. 3, the transformers c<1>-c<111> connected to the three phases a<1>-a<111> feed the rectifier d through a summation transformer s.
