416,912. Washing gases. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Dec. 19, 1932, No. 35964. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 30, 1933]. [Class 55 (ii).] Flue gas is given a gyratory motion by passage along fixed and preferably helicoidal guiding surfaces 3, then led by a cone 4 against a moistened wall 5 and finally through one or more continuous water screens 7 to an outlet 9. A screen 10 with a toothed lower edge keeps the surfaces 3 dry and directs moisture into a well 12 receiving water from the cylindrical wall 5. The water screen 7 is formed by a spray between the end of a pipe 6<a> and a cone 6b to form an adjustable slit. The walls are made of or coated with aluminium, a coating of hard rubber being unnecessary.
