Abstract
416,618. Slicing meat. STRABEL, J. F., 24, Park Avenue, Barrow-in-Furness. Nov. 14, 1933, No. 31755. [Class 28 (ii).] Corned beef and pressed meats are held during slicing or carving by a device comprising a top plate a, a fixed side plate b and a side plate c which is adjustable towards and away from the plate b in accordance with the size of the meat. The top plate a has a number of slots f in one of which a back plate g is placed when a short piece of meat, requiring steadying, is to be cut. The back plate g has oppositely disposed projections k which rest on the top of the plate a and prevent the plate g from rocking. In Fig. 2, the plate g is inoperative, being supported by snapping past the ball heads of pillars h, recesses in the sides of the plate g preventing lateral movement. Alternatively, the plate g may be supported, as shown in dotted lines, in a pocket or clip on the outside of the wall b. The wall c is guided for sliding movement and suitably clamped. As shown, the horizontal part c<1> of the wall carries a bolt e which slides in a slot d in the plate a. A handle m may be provided.
