[Class 132 (i).] An endless band for the practice of walking or running in a stationary position is mounted on two horizontally-disposed end-rollers extending transversely between inclined frame parts and a series of horizontally disposed rollers of lesser diameter than the end rollers are rotatably mounted in the frame parts between the endrollers to form an inclined platform beneath and substantially in alignment with the upper part of the endless band for the support of the user of the apparatus. As shown, the apparatus comprises two lateral cast iron frame parts a spaced by rods b and carrying in ball bearings spindles d, d<1> on which are mounted large wooden rollers e, e<1>. The frame a is held in inclined position by feet h, h<1>, which may be adjustable. Rollers i of lesser diameter than the rollers e, e<1> and are mounted in ball bearings so that their upper surfaces are in alignment with the upper surfaces of the rollers e, e<1>. An endless band f, of textile material, rubber, or laths, passes round the rollers e, e<1> and i and is tensioned by a jockey pulley j. One of the spindles d, d<1> may be geared to a speedometer and mileage counter. To the frame parts k are secured brackets m carrying vertical bars n over which are fitted frames o having a transverse bar or bars b. A resilient member r engages the floor to prevent forward movement of the apparatus during operation.
