Abstract

384,019. Exercising-apparatus. ALLEN, T. G., 6, Albert Court, South Kensington, London. Sept. 30, 1931, No. 27268. [Class 132 (i).] Apparatus for performing walking or running exercises of the type comprising a powerdriven endless belt C, consists of a portable frame A which carries the endless belt and an electric motor B. The hand-bars A<5> are tubular and at one part are provided with a sliding piece D<2> connected by a cable to the arm of a rheostat D by which the motor is controlled. A mileage indicator A<6> is also mounted on the hand-bars and driven by the endless belt. Preferably also a speedometer is provided. The band is supported on its upper run by antifriction rollers A<3> or a smooth surface, and an opening A<2> is provided in the frame of sufficient length to accommodate the stride of the user. The frame may be mounted on wheels, castors, &c. for ready movement from one place to another.
