Abstract

415,912. Resistance coatings and deposits. DISPERSION CATHODIQUE (en abrÚgÚ DISCA) SOC. ANON., 93, Rue Elise, Brussels. Nov. 16, 1933, No. 31968. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1932. [Class 37.] A heat-radiating element for rooms &c. comprises an electric resistance formed by depositing a metallic film as a continuous surface of a thickness smaller than a micron upon an insulating support by cathode disintegration or by thermal evaporation in vacuo. The film is made of platinum, silver or gold, is mounted on slate or a glass plate and may be covered by one or more layers of a metal such as nickel preferably electrodeposited. When the current is admitted to the film it may be thickened, e.g. by further cathode disintegration or by electrodeposition. The film may be transparent, and when deposited on glass and covered by another glass sheet, may form a motor car windscreen, which when heated evaporates moisture. The surface may comprise several square metres or a square with sides of 10 cms. and may be used at high or low temperatures.
