Abstract

415,603. Ships for transporting coal - tar cargoes. ATELIERS ET CHANTIERS DE LA SEINE MARITIME (WORMS ET CIE), Le Trait, Seine Inferieure, and ENTREPRISES A. COCHERY SOC. ANON., 6, Rue de Rome, Paris, both in France. Oct. 24, 1933, No. 29475. Convention date, June 28. [Class 113 (i).] Ships for the transport of coal-tar are fitted with a distilling plant for the purification of the cargo on board the highest parts of the plant, for example the distillation towers 3 being arranged behind the navigating bridge. The crude tar is forced from the holds 14 by the pump 8 into a reservoir 9 whence it passes through the distillation towers. The middle oils are passed into a ballast tank 11 and may be employed for heating the boiler 12 of the distillation plant which may be located in the main boiler room. The distilled tar is led to tanks 16 and thence back to the holds 14 as they are successively emptied.
