Abstract

415,581. Cooling oil &c. LUCAS, E. E., Mount Works, Wharton Street, Nechells, Birmingham. Aug. 21, 1933, Nos. 23239 and 25688. [Class 29.] The oil &c. flows from a filter 7 through pipes 9, provided with valves 10, into ducts 12 formed by stepped plates having projections 14 formed with corrugations 17, Fig. 4, which prevent the oil running over the sides of the plates and form gaps in the oil films flowing over the free edges of the projections. A forced or natural draught of cooling air flows through the ducts. In a modification, the lower members of the stepped plates are formed with tapered corrugations 21, Fig. 6, and the cooling air is supplied through slotted or perforated tubes 24 arranged either at the bottoms or at different levels of the sinuous passages.
