[Class 46.] A screw press for removing liquid from fish and fish refuse after sterilization consists of a worm h in a conduit k the outer end of which is perforated and enclosed in a jacket l having outlets m for the liquid and an outlet t for the dried material. The worm h has its pitch decreasing gradually to the outlet and has a conical core o so that the material will be more compressed as it passes towards the outlet. The worm h is driven by gearing p and can be axially adjusted by a screw q and hand-wheel s to increase or decrease the amount of compression.
