Abstract

415,170. Ladders. FOGG, J. W., 14, Water Street, Liverpool. March 16, 1934, No. 7958/33. [Class 20 (ii).] A non-slip device for ladders comprises an anchorage 10 on the ladder side with fixed abutments 11 and 12 and a movable abutment 23, and an auxiliary leg 16 pivoted to a slidable head 14 on the anchorage, the leg carrying a locking stop 17 which is brought to bear against the anchorage when weight is transmitted to the auxiliary leg and which prevents its upward sliding. The downward sliding of the auxiliary leg is prevented by the adjustable abutment 23, which can be lowered to enable the slots 21, 22 in brackets 19, 20 attached to the ladder and auxiliary leg, respectively, to engage for locking the auxiliary leg in the line of the ladder side. Such a device may be applied to each side of the ladder, and the two devices will function independently of one another.
