[Classes 20 (i) and 20 (iii).] A sliding flexible shutter for rooms having a verandah is adapted to close the room opening or the outer verandah opening by means of guides M, P, C, arranged in the openings and along the roof of the verandah. The guide at the verandah opening may have a bend forming a bay C<1>. The slats of the shutter are connected to links of actuating chains driven by sprockets H, reducing gear F, and a handle-actuated sprocket E and the chains may have rollers engaging metal sides of the guides. Springs connected to the shutter by steel cables may be provided to balance the shutter in some positions.
