413,738. Rotary kilns. JORGENSEN, M. VOGEL-, 24, B³lowsvej, Frederiksburg, near Copenhagen. Jan. 23, 1933, No. 2211. Drawings to Specification. [Class 51 (ii).] The drying and preheating section of a rotary kiln to which the charge is fed in slurry form consists of two zones containing chains separated by a zone with radial partitions or other cellular structures. In the first zone the chains are set closely so as to form a dust filter, and hang loosely across the kiln. The partially dried slurry passes on to the partitioned zone where the drying is completed, and in the third zone, where heavier chains are spaced more widely and are of such a length that a substantial part of each will slide along the kiln wall, lumps are broken up and a certain amount of preheating is effected. The chains in this zone may be set between radial partitions. A fourth zone may be provided consisting of a number of sections with radial partitions of heat resisting metal, which are angularly offset in adjacent sections. The drying and preheating portions of the kiln may be of greater diameter than the remainder.
