Abstract

Oct. 7, 1932, No. 27987. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 10, 1932]. [Class 38 (ii).] The voltage rates of a transformer a, Fig. 1, is varied by means of a slotted disc e of diamagnetic material which moves in a gap in the transformer core, the relative position of the disc being determined by means of a measuring instrument so that a voltage is obtained at the secondary terminals which is proportional to the reading of the instrument, the transformer core may have two gaps, the disc then being provided with two slots. The slot or slots in the disc may be filled with a paramagnetic material. Fig. 3 shows a thermometer arrangement in which, to give an alarm when a predetermined temperature is reached, the pointer b is fitted with a plate c which is introduced into the air gap of a transformer d when the critical temperature is reached.
