Abstract
411,539. Knitting-machines. WILDMAN MFG. CO., Norristown, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Howie, K., and Krieble, C. C. ; Norristown, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) Dec. 7, 1932, No. 17484/33. Convention date, Feb. 4, 1932. Divided on 411,517. [Class 74 (ii).] The yarn-guides of a straight-bar machine are traversed along the needle row by a reciprocating endless band 30 carrying pawls 31, one for driving each yarn guide. The yarn-guides are mounted upon endless flexible bands 26 as described in Specification 411,517. Each pawl 31 engages a dog 34 riveted or otherwise secured to a band 26, and the stroke of the yarn guide and band 26 is determined by the engagement of the dog 34 with patterncontrolled pivoted stops Rs. The pawls 31 are controlled by spring plungers 31<c> so that they can be depressed to free the bands 26 therefrom when the dogs 34 engage the stops R8. The band 30 is secured to the slur cock carrier 37, which has rollers 37<c> engaging spiral grooves in a draw-bar 38 oscillated by a pinion and segment under control of the main cam shaft. The pawls 31 remain depressed and inoperative until spring-pressed slides 31j arranged beneath the pawls engage stops F, and by means of cams 31<x> restore the pawls to operative position. The stops F are controlled by pattern mechanism so that any pawl may be rendered operative.
