Abstract
411,513. Walking - stick seats. TURTON, W., 108, Stechford Road, Ward End, Birmingham. Dec. 7, 1932, No. 34615. [Class 52 (ii).] A telescopic seat-stick or umbrella has a handle formed of two lever-like wings 8 independently pivoted at 9 to the forked head 5 of the stick and provided with short arms which can be locked, by a bolt or bolts, to the head of the stick to hold the wings 8 in open position so that a flexible strip 11 carried thereby is extended to form a hammock-like seat. In Figs. 3 and 4 a bolt 15 carried on the head of the stick passes through coincident holes 18 in the short arms of the wings and locks the wings in open position. To close the wings to form the handle the bolt 15 is withdrawn against the action of the spring 17 and the slotted cap 16 is rotated until the bolt is held in the withdrawn position by the stop 21 when the wings can be folded. A ground plate is carried on the boss 13 when not in use.
