Abstract

266,699. Nõgele, G. Feb. 27, 1926, [Convention date]. Telescopic umbrellas; holding open and closed.-An umbrella comprises a telescopic stick and ribs, but no stretchers, and is held open and closed by means of a runner which engages the tips of the ribs to hold the umbrella closed, and is moved to abut against the crown to hold the ribs open, locking means being provided for the runner in both positions. The. runner comprises a radially slotted disc f, Fig. 5, rotatably mounted on a screwed sleeve g on which is also freely mounted a second disc h pressed forwards by springs l. As shown in Fig. 2, the tips k of the ribs engage in the slits' in the disc f and are engaged by the spring disc h to hold the umbrella closed, in which position the ribs and stick can be collapsed. The umbrella is held open by moving the sleeve g to the other end of the stick which is provided at both ends with screw threads m for the sleeve g.
