Abstract

269,431. Cobon, J. L. Nov. 16, 1926. Sticks.-In an umbrella &c. having a stick with jointed sections to enable the umbrella to be held centrally over the head, the middle section 3 is furnished with spring-influenced plungers 13 having flat surfaces and projections 15 engaging mating flats and depressions on the outer stick sections 1, 2, the plungers being operated by trigger portions 14 riding in bayonet slots in the wall of the section 3. In a modification the plungers are longer and have inwardly projecting tongues adapted to enter slots in a central ring if the latter is rotated to a suitable position. In any other position of the ring the plungers are locked and the. stick sections are held in either their straight or cranked positions.
