[Class 100 (iv).] Type-lever actions; letter-spacing mechanism.-In arrangements in which the universal bar 89 is rocked by intermediate levers 73 through connecting-rods 79 engaging behind the universal bar, the rods 79 are acted upon by springs 81 which lie freely to one side of the rods and are connected at their rear ends to hook-rods 82, these rods serving also to support the rear ends of the rods 79. The rods 82 pass freely through eyes 87 in the rods 79 and are hooked into arms 81 adjustable by screws 86.
