Abstract

410,926. Cutting vegetables. WILSON, W. F., 8, Shelley Road, Glasgow. Feb. 13, 1933, No. 4320. [Class 5 (i).] To cut vegetables into cubes the vegetables are fed down a tube 5 until they engage the side of a knife 1, the side being provided with outstanding incisor elements 3 that pass through corresponding slots 6 in the tube to cut slots in the vegetable at the end of the tube : behind the elements 3 the knife is cut away so that the vegetable is fed further along until it engages the side of a disc 2 arranged to overlap the knife 1 and provided with corresponding incisor elements 4 adapted to cut across the vegetable at right angles to the first series. The knife 1 then slices off that portion of the vegetable that has been acted on by the elements. The disc is cut away to permit the sliced off cubes to fall freely. The casing 8 of the knives is hinged for cleaning purposes. In a modification the disc and the knife are arranged close together, and the end of the feed tube is slitted to permit the traverse of both sets of incisor elements.
