Abstract
Compositions for covering the surfaces of roads and the like are prepared by the admixture of aqueous compositions of flocculent or precipitates with small road metal such as granite chippings or sand. In an example 7 parts of an aqueous composition of a flocculent precipitate are mixed with 95 parts of stone chippings in a cement mixer, and the product laid down as a surfacing material, which when dry resembles a tarmacadam road. It is stated that flocculent precipitates of rubber have superior adhesive properties to those of latex, since they have already passed through a stage corresponding to the ordinary coagulation of latex.
