Abstract

Zinc and cadmium borates for fluorescent screens are obtained by heating together substantially equimolecular proportions of the metal oxide and boric acid, in the presence of an activator, e.g. 1 per cent of a manganese salt, to a temperature below 950 DEG C., e.g. 850 DEG C.
