Abstract
410,085. Compound sheet materials. LANGWORTHY, C. F., and HUGHES, H. WILSON-, 9, Park Hill, Richmond, Surrey. Oct. 3, 1932, No. 27410. [Class 140.] A protected metal sheet for building purposes is made by heating a galvanized steel sheet to open the pin-holes in the zinc, coating with coal tar, pitch, bitumen or a composition thereof, applying a further layer of an incorrodible, fire-resisting composition, heating by a jet of steam, and consolidating the assembly under pressure. The fire - resisting composition specified is a mixture of clay, Portland or aluminous cement, graphite, and water or sodium silicate, which may also contain asbestos fibre for the outer or weather coating and cellulose fibre for the inner coating. The composition may be applied by spreading, or in the form of sheets made similarly to asbestoscement sheets. The steel sheet may be flat, corrugated, perforated, &c.
