Abstract

409,927. Electric hot-plates. HADDAN, R., 31, Bedford Street, Strand, London.- (Moffats, Ltd. ; Dennison Avenue, Weston, York, Ontario, Canada.) July 3, 1933, No. 18834. [Class 39 (iii).] A boiling plate comprises a top plate 2 provided with a plurality of slits 2d extending from the edge for some distance to permit expansion without buckling, and a porcelain support grooved to contain the heating resistance, the groove being positioned at opposite sides of the slits and extending around the ends of the slits beneath an unslitted portion of the top plate. The central circular plate 1 has an outwardly directed flange 1<a> formed with lips 1<b> resting on an inwardly directed and downwardly joggled flange 2h on the outer annular plate 2. The underside of the plate 1 is ribbed spirally to locate the porcelain blocks 5. The underside of the plate 2 is provided with a rib 2<g> thickened at 2f, and ribs 2d which engage recesses 6f in the porcelain blocks 6. The blocks 5, 6 rest on a refractory base mounted in a metal pan. The various parts are all secured together by studs 9 mounted in lugs 1<d> in the plate 1.
