[Class 132 (iii).] A brake for the road wheels of toy vehicles comprises a brake drum fixed relatively to the vehicle frame, a flexible friction drum contained within the brake drum and adapted to rotate with the road wheel axle, and one or more brake blocks loosely mounted on radial guides and also adapted to rotate with the road wheel axle, the arrangement being such that radial displacement of the blocks under centrifugal action will force the friction drum to engage with the brake drum. A metal brake drum a is riveted or otherwise secured to a fixed support, such as the frame-lug or bracket b supporting the road-wheel axle e. A flexible moulded rubber disc c with peripheral rubber flange c<1> and with central boss or hub c<2> is keyed coaxially to the road-wheel axle e by a pin or spindle d<1> carried by the axle e and passing through the boss c<2>. A brake-block d is slidably mounted on the spindle d<1> and moves outwards under the action of centrifugal force so that at excessive speeds it contacts with the flange c<1> and forces its outer surface into contact with the inner surface of the brake drum a to retard the speed of the road-wheel axle e. A second brake-block may be slidably mounted upon the spindle d<1> on the opposite side of the boss c<2> to the brake-block d.
