Abstract

408,825. Bending and corrugating pipes &c. STEW ARTS & LLOYDS, Ltd., 41, Oswald Street, Glasgow, and DUNN, W. W., Bertini, Hallside, Lanarkshire. May 25, 1933, No. 15095. [Class 83 (iv).] A pipe-bending &c. apparatus has means for applying axial or eccentric thrust for forming corrugations or creased bends. A chain 4 is clamped to a pipe 1<c> positioned between bending pins 16. A plug 12 is inserted into the free end of the pipe and carries adjustable bearings for the pivot 8 of a lever 7 engaging the free end of the chain. In forming a creased bend, the pivot 8 is adjusted eccentric to the pipe axis and the thrust on the lever 7 causes a combined thrust and bend at a heated zone a. In corrugating the pivot is moved to the axis of the pipe and an axial thrust without bending forms the corrugation d. Packing strips 20 are inserted between the chain and the pipe.
