408,703. Electric-lamp holders; supporting lamps. FRANCE, W., 2, Carfield Place, Meersbrook, and SMITH, L., 139, Archer Road, Millhouses, both in Sheffield. Oct. 19, 1933, No. 29422/32. [Classes 39 (ii) and 75 (iii).] A wiring system comprises a conduit 20 of insulating material, circular in cross-section, having a longitudinal slot 21, and enclosing bare conductors 22, and a co-operating sliding member 31, Fig. 8, that loosely fits the interior of the conduit and carries segmental contacts 32 that may be fitted with flat springs 34 and continuously engage the conductors 22. From the contacts 32 leads pass through a neck 30, extending through the slot 21, to a lamp-holder 42, flex, &c. Free movement of the sliding member may be assisted by the provision of rollers. The conduit is made in lengths, the conductors of one length being connected to those of the next by plugs that enter the hollow conductor, the joint in the conduit being made and covered by a split spring sleeve 26. A locking-nut 41 may secure the sliding member in any position.
