Abstract
407,929. Sharpening razors &c. RUPP, J. J., 4070, West Fort Street, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Aug. 26, 1932, No. 23948. [Class 60.] A sharpener for razor &c. blades consists of a curved metal plate 10 having the operative surface concave in cross-seotion, and slightly convex in longitudinal - section, the surface also having formed thereon during manufacture, very fine grain lines 14, the direction of which is across the sharpener as indicated in Fig. 5. In order to provide a very hard operative surface, the plate may be made of hard steel or that surface may be plated with chromium ; in operation the blade 12 is pressed, and moved parallel to its edges upon the sharpener. In the manufacture of the sharpeners, these may be stamped from a rolled strip having the necessary grain formed upon it by the rolling operation, or the grain may be formed by the dies used for shaping the individual plates, or by steel brushes.
