[Class 83 (i).] Castings, extracting.-A pipe p, Fig. 2, cast in a centrifugal mould m, is extracted by a head h<12> and conveyer chain h on which the pipe is supported. The head h<12> has a hook h<10> which engages a chain h' secured to a cross-bar h<8> of the chain h and supported by a guide h<13> detachably connected to another cross-bar h<14>. When this bar reaches the driven wheels h2 it is automatically detached from the guide h<13> which remains stationary while the chain h' passes over it. The pipe is received by crossbars h<6> of the chain h and is by them transferred to rockers r, Fig. 4. An arm k, Fig. 7, pivoted to a plunger k<1> is then moved to engage the pipe and advanced to push it completely on to the rockers r which are then lowered so that the pipe is received by a runway h<16>. When the bar h<14> reaches the position shown in Fig. 4 it re-engages with the guide h<13> and, the rotation of the wheels h<2> being reversed, it projects the guide, and the chain h' thereon, as shown in Fig. 2, ready for the next operation. According to the Provisional Specification the conveyer may have an adjustable inclination.
