407,797. Composition fuel. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.-(Maurel Investment Corporation ; 54, Custom House Street, Providence, Rhode Island, U.S.A.) Dec. 30, 1932, No. 36952. [Class 50.] Fuel briquettes made from ground anthracite or carbonized bituminous coal are rendered hard and smokeless by being heated to about 500‹ F. to drive off completely moisture and lighter oily fractions and then gradually cooled within the furnace to about 300‹ F. in the presence of a very small percentage of oxygen or air. The partial vacua caused by the cooling assist the penetration by the air, which may be diluted with inert gases such as combustion products.
