407,550. Clossures for cans &c. MALLINCKRODT CHEMICAL WORKS, 3600, North 2nd Street, St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. April 21, 1933, No. 11718. Convention date, April 8. [Classes 66 and 125 (iii).] A closure for a can &c. comprises a nozzle having a cylindrical end terminating in an acute-angled sharp sealing edge, a soft metal cap seating on said edge and surrounding the cylindrical portion, and a binding band closely fitted to the cap and surrounding the cap opposite the sharp edge, the margin of the band being turned inward to confine the soft metal of the cap against the sealing edge and the cylindrical portion of the nozzle. In the construction shown the nozzle 3 and band 19 are of tinned steel, having substantially the same coefficient of expansion, and the domed cap 13 is of lead.
