[Class 141.] Gloves of a fireproof or flameproof character are cut out from material by a method in which, before the cutting out operation takes place, parts of the material are gathered and stitched in the form of gussets which are afterwards let out. The glove is indicated in its finished form in Fig. 1, and in Fig. 4 is shown a pattern for cutting out. The glove comprises an outer skin 6, Fig. 3, of finely woven asbestos cloth, an inner skin 7 of coarser asbestos cloth, and fibre packing 8 which is quilted in position to prevent creeping. A lining 9 is provided of close grained leather. The seams are formed by asbestos piping 16 overstitched by asbestos yarn 17. A constricted sleeve portion is formed in the mouth of the glove to prevent the entrance of flames or the like. The pattern for the outer skin, shown in Fig. 4, is identical with that of the inner skin with the exception that the latter does not extend below the wrist line a a. In making, the pattern is pinned on the cloth attached to the work table by pinning along the line a, a and the tuck A marked, taken in and stitched temporarily to give extra room for the thumb. By attaching along the line c, c the tuck B is marked and taken in and the same procedure is adopted with respect to the line d, d and the tuck C, the cloth for the latter being drawn from the palm portion. Finally, the tuck D is marked off and taken in.
