Abstract

405,009. Mats. REDFERN'S RUBBER WORKS, Ltd., Hyde, and REDFERN, J. A., 24, Kensington Street, Hyde, Cheshire. July 26, 1932, Nos. 21077 and 24830. [Class 142 (iv).] A composite rubber mat, flooring, or the like comprising a rubber body portion 1, Fig. 2, and separately formed letters, figures or other designs 2 has metal or fibre strands or meshwork 3 embedded therein to pass through and keys together the mat proper and the letters &c. The meshwork &c., is forced into the mat during vulcanisation by a plate 5 having embossments which form air pockets in the bottom of the mat. Alternatively the mat proper and the letters may be formed from two layers 6, 7 and 8, 9 respectively Fig. 3 with a strip of cloth interposed, the composite structure being subsequently treated in a vulcanising mould.
