Abstract

404,929. Building - motions for ring spinning and like machines. PLATT BROS. & CO., Ltd., Hartford Works, HUGHES, J., 247, Chamber Road, and WATSON, W. H., 43, Lynn Street, all in Oldham. April 23, 1932, No. 11682. [Class 120 (ii).] To enable yarn to be wound in ring spinning and doubling or other machines in forms which are of accurate cylindrical shape between the conical or rounded base and the conical tip, in the case of cops, or between the conical ends, in the case of bobbins of parallel build, an oscillatable block a is provided with a cylindrical surface engaged by a flexible steel or like band p connected to a primary rocker t of a volute or other building-motion, and with an adjustable sector c of varying radius engaged during the oscillation of the block imparted by the band p by a similar band g connected to a secondary rocker l operating the ring rails. The operative surface of the sector is arcshaped and diminishes gradually in radius, and the sector is pivoted to the block a on a stud band is adjustable in a slot d of circular curvature struck from the centre line of the stud, so that the motion transmitted to the ring rail may be adjusted to wind the yarn in cylindrical form on spindles tubes or bobbins of different shapes. The Provisional Specification comprises also a " bearing surface, or edge cam, grooved cam or face cam " formed on an oscillating block or on an adjustable part thereon, and an oscillating block provided with two adjustable sectors or arc-shaped parts. Specifications 13292/04, 21330/04, [both in Class 120, Spinning], and 8065/15, [Class 120 (ii), Spinning, twisting, &c.], are referred to.
