Abstract

404,917. Maintaining defined speeds of motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.- (Assignees of Zucker, M. ; 1708, Crooks Road, Royal Oak, Michigan, U.S.A.) April 16, 1932, No. 10954. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 18, 1932]. [Class 38 (iii).] A D.C. motor 10 is maintained at constant speed by causing it to drive an alternator 20 which supplies, through a transformer 15 and valves 16, 17, the motor field 12. The alternator also supplies a tuned circuit 22, 23 in series with a resistor 25 and capacitor 24 across which is a grid feed transformer 18. The circuit 22 .. 25 is arranged so that at normal speed the potentials applied to the grids of the valves 16, 17 lag behind the anode potentials by approximately 45‹. If the motor speed increases above normal, this lag is reduced and the field 12 is strengthened. The alternator 20 may be a power device and constitute the load on the motor.
