[Class 52 (iii).] A chair, settee, or the like adapted for use also as a table has the exterior of the back rest made flat and suitable for use as a table top, the front and side frames which normally extend below and support the seat being constituted by folding frames, legs or boards, or by telescopic or detachable legs, or by vertical side members forming part of a stationary frame resting on the floor and to which the seat and back assembly is pivoted. For use as a table the chair is turned so that the front of the seat and arms rests on the floor, the legs, frames or seat supports being folded to afford leg-room, or the seat and back assembly is rotated in the stationary frame. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the arms a and the side members b form supports when the chair is turned to form a table. The front legs c of the chair and the rungs g are arranged to fold against the under side of the seat. Extension leaves f supported when extended by draw-bars i may be provided. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the front legs c' of the chair are arranged to telescope within the front members j when the chair is turned for use as a table. Fig. 9 shows a chair with a frame of tubular material, in which the front support of the seat is in the form of a U-shaped member p, the upper ends of which are pivoted to the arms so that the member may be swung into the position shown in chain lines and there retained by a clip when the chair is to be turned for use as a table. A stationary frame comprising sides r<1> and cross members u<2> is provided in the form shown in Fig. 16, the seat and back being rigidly connected together and pivoted at v<1> to the frame and retained in either the chair or table position by bolts or suitable fastenings. In modifications, the seat is adapted to be folded against the back rest, or against the front parts of the arm and side members. In other forms the seat frame is made in parts which unfold to form a bed.
