Abstract
403,690. Compound sheet materials. VULCAN ASBESTOS-CEMENT CO., Ltd., 292, High Holborn, London, and WRIGHT, A. H. J., Medveza Gora, Higham, Rochester, Kent. June 22, 1932, No. 17648. [Class 140.] A panel or sheet for building &c. purposes consists of a sheet of asbestos or a mixture containing asbestos, faced with wood veneer and strengthened by having a fabric glued to the other side. One or both surfaces of the panel may be further coated with metal, or with paint, lacquer, varnish, distemper &c., which may in turn be covered with a substance comprising a cellulose derivative. The wood veneer may be glued direct to the asbestos sheet by a casein adhesive, or may be gluod to an intermediate layer of fabric. A cellulose derivative adhesive may be used for glueing the fabric to the asbestos sheet. Specification 364,354 is referred to. The Provisional Specification describes also panels consisting of an asbestos sheet covered on one or both sides with fabric, which may be further covered on one or both sides with metal, wood veneer, paint &c., and then, if desired, with a substance comprising cellulose or a cellulose derivative, and panels consisting of an asbestos sheet with wood veneer stuck directly to both sides. The fabric-covered panel may be filled, smoothed, and grained, or a photographic transfer of a wood grain may be applied. The metal layer may be applied electrolytically or by spraying.
