Abstract

403,125. Regulating the yarn tension in ring frames. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI, ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. June 15, 1932, No. 16978. Convention date, June 15, 1931. [Class 120 (ii).] The variation in the tension of the yarn due to the periodic change of the diameter of the cop at which winding takes place in ring spinning and doubling frames is neutralized by moving the thread guide and the ring rail in opposite directions so as to vary the length of yarn forming the balloon. The relation of the various factors determining the tension of the yarn during winding is discussed in justification of the method of compensation which depends on the effect of the height of the balloon. As shown, the guide rail 6 is connected by pokers 5 to the lift levers 3 on the side of the fulcrum opposite to that on which the pokers 2 of the ring rail are connected, the lift levers being operated by the usual building-motion comprising an oscillating lever 12, ratchet gear 15, chains 11, 17 and pulleys 8, 10. If the guide rail is not required to move with the ring rail in the strict relationship determined by the arrangement shown, separate levers 3 and pulleys 8 are provided for the guide rail.
