Tension arrangements.-In machines for winding yarns or threads b, c from cops on to " two-end " cheeses or cones a tension device is provided so that anv increase or decrease in tension imposed on one thread causes a corresponding increase or decrease in the tension of the other thread. The device comprises a glass or like rod e, and a lever h pivoted at i and provided at its ends with guides f, g through which the threads pass. The lowering of one end of the lever h, increases the arc of contact of the thread passing through that end with the rod e, and takes up any slack thread, while the raising of an end decreases the are of contact and pays out a length of thread to reduce the tension.
