402,632. Aircraft landing places. CHEVALIER, J. P. L., 9, Rue FÚlicien David, St-Germain-en-Zaye, Seine-et-Oise, France. March 2, 1933, No. 6328. Convention date, March 2, 1932. [Class 4.] To indicate to an arriving aeroplane an appropriate landing track, a light or other source of radiant energy 4 at the windward side of the landing ground sends out a beam which can be swung in a vertical plane from the zenith towards the landing track, and pairs of lamps &c. 5, 7, 9 on opposite sides of the track cast beams which intersect above the track at successively reduced heights, 11, 12, 13. Beyond these lights further pairs of lamps 14, 15, 16 cast horizontal beams at successively reduced heights and the landing track proper 3 is floodlit. The lamps on one side of the track are white and the others are of different colours successively. The lamps may be permanently mounted on the landing ground and those common to a number of tracks have means for changing their colour and direction. When other radiant energy than light is used the transmitters are given characteristics detected by instruments on the aircraft.
