Abstract
510,495. Lighting systems for aircraft. COC CON, M., and TORTA, P. Nov. 21, 1938, No. 33825. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1937. [Class 75 (iv)] Aeroplanes are fitted with lights emitting differently coloured beams in a downwardly inclined plane so that the height and inclination of the aeroplane when approaching the ground may be estimated by the sequence and distance between the coloured ellipses projected on the ground. In the arrangement shown an aeroplane is fitted with two red lights at end of one wing and two green lights at the end of the other wing, the beams I, IV being parallel and the beams II, III being inclined to intersect the beams IV, I at the points A, B respectively and one another at the point C. The lights may be mounted so as to allow adjustment of their optical axes.
