Abstract
402,056. Ejectors. STEPHENS, J., King Street, Mosgiel, New Zealand. April 11, 1932, No. 10384. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 11, 1932.] [Class 71.] Means for withdrawing hot air from a room or for lifting water from a low level to a higher level by using the flow of a running stream of water, comprises the use of an adjustable wedge-shaped ejector 13 which is arranged between the inflow and outflow pipes 10, 11. The water is divided into two distinct streams which unite again in the pipe 11 causing a vacuum in the lifting or suction pipe 12. The ejector 13, Fig. 3, has wings 14, 14a adjustable lengthwise and of convex or concave section. Overflow water from a dam may enter pipe 11 to increase the velocity of the water. The wings 14, 14a may be hinged or the angle between them otherwise adjusted. The apparatus may be used for draining flooded lands. The inflow may be provided with a non-return valve.
