401,800. Press rolls for paper-making and like machines. REDDAWAY, F., and MUSKETT, J., Victoria Mills, Cheltenham Street, Pendleton, Manchester. July 4, 1932, No. 18802. [Classes 42 (ii) and 96.] A press roller for paper-making and like machines comprises in combination, a roll body a, with outwardly tapered extremities a<3>, and a recess a' for an inflatable tube c, a withdrawable exterior sleeve B with a fabric base b, reduced extremities b<x> and a rubber composition face b<1>, and cup-shaped end member d tapered to fit the roll extremities, said end members clamping the sleeve extremities to the roll and being held in place by concentrically disposed studs d<1>. The tube c is inflated by means of a channel c<1> extending through one of the axle ends a<1>. The cavity a<4> for the tube c may have a base wrapping of fabric.
