Abstract
1,235,691. Printeng apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK WINKLER, FALLERT & CO. A.G. 25 May, 1968 [25 May, 1967], No. 16523/68. Heading B6C. To obtain an even contact pressure between printing cylinder and an impression cylinder in spite of deflection of both during printing, one or other, or both, is made up of a core and a jacket, in contact only in the centre part of the cylinder, and the core, the jacket or both may have end parts with cross-sections differing from their cross-section in the centre part of the cylinder. The core may be tapered at its ends, the jacket may be internally flared, or the core may be tapered and the jacket flared. An increase in applied pressure, e.g. between solid cylinder 14 and a composite cylinder according to the invention, composed of tapered core 12 and flared jacket 11, causes the zone in which core and jacket are in contact to broaden. By use of appropriate core and jacket shapes a uniform contact pressure may be obtained, or the contact pressure may be made lower at the ends of the cylinders, to reduce tearing of web 13.
