Abstract

401,650. Enamelling ; alloys. KREIDL, 1., 5, Sebastian Kohlgasse, Vienna. Feb. 12, 1932, No. 4224. Convention date, Feb. 12, 1931. [Class 56.] Enamelled sheet iron, or vessels and other articles made therefrom are produced by applying the enamel to an alloy of iron with at least one of the metals whose oxides cause adhesion, the quantity of such metals being sufficient to cause adhesion. Cobalt and nickel are the most effective, but a few other metals such as manganese, copper, molybdenum, and tungsten may be employed, preferably only in conjunction with cobalt or nickel. An iron alloy containing 1 to 2% of nickel is suitable while, in the case of manganese, at least 2% is essential. Opaque, especially white opaque enamels can be obtained by a single coating without employing a base enamel, whether solid clouding agents, such as oxides of tin or zirconium, or gas clouding agents are used. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to the use of alloys containing less than 1% of cobalt. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
