Abstract
400,596. Securing joists to concrete floors. ROE, E. J. T., 47, Victoria Street, London. April 21, 1932, No. 11476. [Class 20 (iv).] A sheet-metal shoe for securing wooden joists d to a concrete floor i consists of a body of cruciform shape having a pair of opposed arms b adapted to be bent downwardly and pressed into the plaster concrete, a further pair of opposed arms c which initially lie flat on the concrete and are subsequently bent upwardly for fixing to the joist, and a central portion h which is pressed upwards to form a raised horizontal platform to support the joist above the concrete base in such manner as to allow free access of air to the underside of the joist. The shoe is adapted to be pressed or stamped in one piece. The metal of the anchoring lugs b is ruptured to form holes j with jagged projections for the purpose of increasing the anchorage. The lugs c are secured to the joist by nails passing through holes f. Slots g in the lugs c permit temporary fastening of the joists and allow adjustment to be made. Specification 303,436, [Class 20 (iv), Floors &c.], is referred to.
